Those of you who visit regularly might have noticed the site had been a little quiet for a while, well were pleased to say it wasnt forgotten about and was undergoing major upgrades. We hope you enjoy the new look and features.
Congratulations to our Boys Brigade Company and Senior Section lads who took part in the annual Worcestershire Battalion Scripture Quiz on Monday 11th March. Two teams were entered from 1st Redditch and their hard work paid off, as we came 5th and 1st; and were awarded the Battalion Bible and display stand.
Congratulations to our Boys Brigade team of lads who took part in the annual Worcestershire Battalion Scripture Quiz on 19th March. 3 teams were entered from 1st Redditch, and we came 6th, 5th and 1st! The lads were awarded the Battalion Bible and display stand. Well done to all.
The boys of the Company Section organised, cooked and served up a sensational free 3 course dinner to 43 guests on Friday 3rd February as part of their badge work. The starter was Soup and fresh bread followed with the main of pork & leek pie, new potatoes and veg and to finish off the evening there was sticky toffee pudding with cream of custard. We received £330 in donations which will be split to/to between Help for Heroes and Asthma UK, charities chosen by the boys. Thanks to everyone who helped and supported this event.
We gathered at The Bridge church to celebrate our annual service of enrolement and re-dedication.

Once again this year 1st Redditch took part in the annual company section competitions day, sadly we didnt win this year however a good time was still had by all.
Company Section enjoyed a visit from the local Police dog handler that spent time with them explaining the work and showing the gear and ability of the dogs. Take a look at the pictures.

Its that time of year again and the 1st Redditch headed to Halesowen to take part in the Battalion Competitions Day, Thankfully the lads hard work paid off as we came 1st in drill. To read about the rest click the headline.

On Saturday (2nd May) we took three Juniors across to the Worcester Battalion Uni Hoc competition, this was the first time the Juniors have taken part in a Battalion event for about 10 years. We played 4 matches the scores were, 1-1, 4-1 6-0 & 2-1 so no losses!! We have to thank Ronan from 1st Dudley for stepping in to make our numbers to the 4, he was awesome and I think he's made life long friends with Callum, Corey and Chad. Well done 'Triple C'!
On Saturday a sleepy eyed but well practiced team from 1st Redditch headed over to Kiddeminster to take part in the annual competitions day. It was a great day with us holding on to the Drill champions title for another year and taking 1st place in the Table Tennis. Videos and Pictures coming soon!
‘Do Something Funny For Money’ Friday 13th March (Comic Relief Night) saw members of the 1st Redditch Boys’ & Girls’ Brigade set off for Far Forest (near Kidderminster) dressed in funny red clothing.
The Boys have been instructed over 6 weeks in the art of Self defence. Their instructor (former World and European kickboxing champion Clifton Elcock) not only taught them how to physically defend themselves but he also talked to them about defend themselves mentally and the responsible use of self defence. All the members that took part thoroughly enjoyed the course.
To celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Boys' Brigade a challenge was set up for all the BB Companies throughout the UK. We had to have an independent judge for each team taking part and all we had was an envelope for each team that could not be opened till the stopwatch had been started! After lots of hardwork our photo album is finaly ready to be launched! We hope you get as much enjoyement looking at what we did over the years as we had doing it. Check back regularly as the album will be continuously updated.
The Company Section undertook a Film Review task as part of their Skill badge. This involved selecting a film to watch (James Bond, Quantum if Solace) and the venue (Redditch, Apollo Cinema). On Monday (24th Nov) traveled across to the home of the 1st Halesowen Company for the annual PE Competition. This year we had a team made up of Lance Corporal Harry Gardner, Lance Corporal Sam Gardner, Private Alex Sampson and Private Robert Sadler. To read how they got on click on the news heading!
Big thank you to Morrisons Store in Redditch for letting us help their shoppers pack their bags and the boys and girls who did the packing. We raised a staggering £841.57, so a big thanks to all the people in Morrisons who donated money towards the 1st Redditch Boys' & Girls' Brigades.
A special service of celebration was held on the 5th October at Samsone Walk Baptist Church in Worcester. 1st Redditch took a coach-load of members across to Worcester to join in the celebrations, where KJC the Brigades own youth worship group led the lively service which was also broadcast on BBC Radio Hereford and Worcester.
After many phone calls and e-mails to the Forestry Commission during the week, we decided to go-ahead with the camping trip even though the previous weekend the field we were camping on was completely under water when the Wye burst its banks.. To read the write-up click the heading!

In Company Section we run a competition each year where you get points for your effort and commitment to Company, Church and Battalion events. Alex Sampson this year was promoted from the Junior section in September and by the end of the session (18th July) had totalled up a massive 2235 points! Jack Wheale also deserves a mention as he is also a new lad in Company and managed to finish in second place with 2130. All the lads did well but the older boys need to try and keep up with the new breed of committed Company Section boys!! Well done everyone.
Friday 18th July was our last night until September so to finish of the session when went over to Quasar Elite Birmingham. The boys donned their armour and weaponry, and the battle commenced. Not really sure which team or individual won but everyone had a great time.
Richard Batchelor had the Juniors cooking in the kitchen tonight, they made some delicious Cadburys Choc Chip Cookies which went down a treat with the Anchors Juniors and Mr Bill
We decided to have an American Themed BBQ on the 4th July to celebrate with our friends across the pond. To our supprise a well known loud mouthed American tennis player turned up with some cowboy friends of his and a couple of American Soccer players (wearing Villa shirts). John McEnroe and friends had a great time but you know what the yanks are like with food, there wasnt any leftovers. We also had a bit of a quiz about the USA but our knowledge of America isnt really worth talking about and John just kept saying "you can not be serious"!

Twenty four of our Juniors, Seniors/Brigaders and Company Sections of the Brigades had a weekend away to Bilberry Hill Centre at The Lickeys in Rednal, Birmingham 8-10th February. The weather was very kind to us for the whole weekend.... To read the rest click on the news heading.
The 1st Redditch Boys Brigade were victorious once again at the Worcestershire Battalion competition day taking the title of Drill Champions once again.
After some hard work our 2005 Presidents Badge recievers Ben Phillips, Adam Richards and Martin Patrick went on to complete there Queens badge award at Feldon Lodge. The Awards were presented by the BB secretary Steven Dickinson
This time the Presidents badges were awarded to Ben Phillips, Adam Richards and Martin Patrick. They were presented at the Headless Cross Methodist Church by the battalion secretary Loz Gazeley. Every sends there congratulations on recieving the award
Adam West was awarded the Queens badge this year. All of 1st Redditch send our congratulations to him on recieving this prestigious award.
